Article Use and Omission
Kurz erklärt
Spanish sometimes uses no article where English uses a or the. Articles are usually omitted with an unmodified profession after ser, with languages after verbs such as hablar, estudiar, and aprender, and with nonspecific substances or plural things. An article is normally needed when the noun refers to something specific or functions as a general subject.
