Mit there is und there are sagt man, dass etwas oder jemand an einem Ort vorhanden ist. There is steht normalerweise vor einem Nomen im Singular, there are vor einem Nomen im Plural.

Vor einem Nomen im Plural verwendet man there are, nicht there is.
