Combined Object Pronouns
Kurz erklärt
When a sentence replaces both an indirect object (the recipient) and a direct object (the thing), Spanish uses two object pronouns together. The indirect object pronoun always comes first. If le or les would appear before lo, la, los, or las, le or les changes to se. This se still means “to him,” “to her,” or “to them”; it is not reflexive here.
Bildung
indirect object pronoun + direct object pronoun; le/les + lo/la/los/las becomes se + lo/la/los/las
Verwendung
- Use the pair when both the recipient and the thing are already clear from context.
- Keep the indirect pronoun before the direct pronoun: me lo, te la, nos los, se las.
- Add a phrase such as a ella or a ustedes when se could refer to more than one person.
Beispiele
- ¿Me prestas el cargador? Sí, te lo presto. — Will you lend me the charger? Yes, I’ll lend it to you.
- La mesera nos trajo las bebidas y nos las sirvió enseguida. — The server brought us the drinks and served them to us right away.
- Compré el regalo para Ana y se lo di ayer. — I bought the gift for Ana and gave it to her yesterday.
