Verbi e tempi verbali

I verbi be e have al presente

A1Essenzialeinglese

In breve

Al presente, be significa «essere» e serve anche per dire dove si trova qualcuno o come sta. Have significa «avere» e indica, per esempio, il possesso. In inglese il soggetto va espresso: si dice «She is at home», non solo «Is at home».

Formazione

Be: I am, you/we/they are, he/she/it is. Have: I/you/we/they have, he/she/it has. Con be: not dopo il verbo (is not) e domande con il verbo davanti (Is she …?). Con have: don’t/doesn’t have nelle frasi negative e Do/Does … have? nelle domande.

Uso

  • Usa be per identità, stato e luogo: I am tired; She is here.
  • Usa have per ciò che una persona possiede: She has a dog.
  • Per chiedere come sta qualcuno, usa be: Are you hungry?

Esempi

  • I am hungry. — Ho fame.
  • Is she at home? — È a casa?
  • She has a dog. — Ha un cane.
  • We don’t have a car. — Non abbiamo una macchina.

Errore tipico

❌ Have you hungry?

✅ Are you hungry?

Per «Hai fame?» in inglese si usa be: «Are you hungry?». L’errore deriva dalla traduzione letterale dall’italiano.

Da ricordare

Con he, she e it usa is e has. Nelle domande con be non serve do.
