Gerçekçi koşullar: First Conditional

Kısaca

First Conditional, gelecekte gerçekleşmesi mümkün olan bir koşulun sonucunu anlatır. Koşul kesin değildir: Gerçekleşirse ne olacağını söylersin. Türkçedeki ‘-sa/-se … -acak/-ecek’ yapısına anlamca yakındır.

Yapı

If + özne + Present Simple, özne + will + fiilin yalın hâli. Ana cümle başa da gelebilir: Özne + will + fiilin yalın hâli + if + özne + Present Simple.

Kullanım

• Gelecekte mümkün olan bir duruma bağlı bir planı veya sonucu belirtirsin.
• If cümlesinde gelecek anlamı olsa bile genellikle will değil, Present Simple kullanırsın.
• If cümlesi baştaysa iki cümle arasına virgül koyarsın; sonda ise virgül gerekmez.

Örnekler

• If it rains tomorrow, we’ll stay home. — Yarın yağmur yağarsa evde kalacağız.
• If you finish early, I’ll call you. — Erken bitirirsen seni arayacağım.
• We’ll take the bus if the train is late. — Tren gecikirse otobüse bineceğiz.

Yaygın hata

❌ If it will rain tomorrow, we’ll stay home.

✅ If it rains tomorrow, we’ll stay home.

Gelecekten söz etsen bile bu tür if cümlesinde will kullanma; Present Simple ile ‘it rains’ de. Sonuç cümlesinde ‘we’ll stay’ doğrudur.

Unutma

Gelecekte olası koşul: if + Present Simple; sonuç: will + fiil.
