The futur simple
Kurz erklärt
The futur simple describes what will happen. It is especially common for predictions, promises, and future events presented as facts. In English, it often corresponds to ‘will’ followed by a verb.
Bildung
Use the infinitive (or remove the final -e from an -re verb) + -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont. Some common verbs have irregular stems, such as ser- (être), aur- (avoir), ir- (aller), and fer- (faire).
Verwendung
- A future event: Demain, nous partirons tôt.
- A prediction: Il fera beau ce week-end.
- A promise or decision about the future: Je t’appellerai ce soir.
Beispiele
- Je finirai ce travail demain. — I will finish this work tomorrow.
- Vous aurez les résultats lundi. — You will have the results on Monday.
- Ils prendront le train de huit heures. — They will take the eight o’clock train.
