Struttura della frase

There is e there are per indicare esistenza

A1Essenzialeinglese

In breve

Formazione

There is + nome singolare; there are + nome plurale. Negazione: there isn’t / there aren’t. Domanda: Is there …? / Are there …?

Uso

  • Usa there is con una sola cosa e there are con più cose.
  • Per dire che qualcosa non c’è, usa there isn’t o there aren’t.
  • Nelle domande, metti is o are prima di there.

Esempi

  • There is a grocery store near my house.
  • There are two chairs in the kitchen. — Ci sono due sedie in cucina.
  • There isn’t a bus stop on this street.
  • Are there any apples in the fridge? — Ci sono delle mele in frigo?

Errore tipico

❌ There is two chairs in the kitchen.

✅ There are two chairs in the kitchen.
