Verbi e tempi verbali

Used to per abitudini e stati passati

B1Importanteinglese

In breve

Formazione

Affermativa: soggetto + used to + verbo alla forma base. Negativa: soggetto + didn’t use to + verbo alla forma base. Domanda: Did + soggetto + use to + verbo alla forma base?

Uso

  • Per abitudini passate: I used to take the bus to work.
  • Per stati o situazioni passate: She used to live near the beach.
  • Dopo did o didn’t si scrive use to, senza -d: il passato è già espresso da did.

Esempi

  • She used to live near the beach. — Un tempo abitava vicino alla spiaggia.
  • We didn’t use to eat out much. — Prima non mangiavamo spesso fuori.
  • Did you use to play soccer after school? — Giocavi a calcio dopo la scuola?

✅ I used to walk to school when I was little.

Nelle frasi affermative al passato si scrive used to; use to si usa dopo did o didn’t.

Da ricordare

Used to parla del passato, non di un’abitudine attuale.
