Phrasal verbs: significato e posizione dell’oggetto
In breve
Formazione
Verbo + particella: turn off the lights / turn the lights off; con un pronome oggetto: turn them off, non turn off them.
Uso
- Con molti phrasal verbs che hanno un oggetto, un sostantivo può stare prima o dopo la particella: pick up the keys / pick the keys up.
- Con questi verbi, un pronome oggetto va tra verbo e particella: pick them up.
- Alcuni phrasal verbs non richiedono un oggetto: The plane took off.
Esempi

- Please turn them off. — Per favore, spegnile.
- She picked her keys up from the floor. — Ha raccolto le chiavi da terra.
- The plane took off on time. — L’aereo è decollato in orario.
